Recommended Adhesives
Depending upon substrate and site conditions, use white coloured adhesives - Keracrete + Keracrete Polvere, Kerabond + Isolastic or Keralastic by Mapei. Apply as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Recommended Grout For grout, use Ultracolor or Keracolor Fine by Mapei. Apply as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Grout colour should be similar to the colour of the tile, especially for the clear/gloss glass tiles. Substrate Substrate must be solid, fully cured, dry and free of dust, grease, wax or oils. Luxa tiles must be similarly free of deleterious material. Ensure waterproof priming used is appropriate for this type of installation. If substrate or backing material is other than white in colour, apply a coat of white paint or other appropriate material. Application The artisan nature of the Luxa glass tiles confers a handmade style and the sizes specified are nominal therefore, when installing, it is necessary to maintain a joint of approximately 2 mm. Spread only a thin layer of adhesive. Thick or unevenly applied adhesive will cause stresses in the tile during drying. Use a flat trowel; do not use a notched trowel. Cutting must be carried out with a standard glass cutter. When required, smooth off sharp edges with emery paper. Holes may be drilled in a tile using a glass cutting drill bit with water continually applied during drilling. Drill very slowly with minimal pressure. For specific instructions for cutting and drilling the material, please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions. Apply grout as per manufacturer’s instructions. For the clear glass tiles, wipe the tile and rake the grout well below the top surface of the tile – approximately 2 mm. Technical Information Thickness: approximately 10mm. Weight: 24 kg. per metre Breakage load and sliding tests have passed the minimum requirements according to the American ASTM C 648 and ASTM C 1028 standards. |
