Marble has always been the most prized
material for prestige architectural solutions and has been in use for
centuries, in slabs of varying thickness, for outer and inner walls and
flooring. Spain is a producer of various prized qualities of marble, with a
history of exportation and use that dates back to Roman times, along the
trade routes linking the Spanish colonies with the Empire's capital. One of
the major deposits of marble in Spain is situated inland at Alicante, the
Roman “Lucentum”. These quarries yield Crema Marfil, a fine-grained, creamy
marble (Marfil is the Castilian word for ivory), with light, irregular veins
of calcite.
The Ergon Marfil series is inspired by this refined marble: its
surface maintains the natural elegance of the veining and the depth of the
colour changes, while the colour range reflects the beauty of the original.
The chromatic effects are obtained in the ceramic body itself, to ensure the
product's suitability for areas subject to high traffic and chemical stress. |
